This series explores Recco’s interest in Asian elephants and the way they are depicted in Indian Muhgal Dynasty miniatures.

This latest series of paintings explores my interest in Asian elephants and the way they are depicted in Indian Muhgal Dynasty miniatures. There’s a stylized and cartoon-like quality in the original works that I like. Exaggerated characteristics combined with well observed anatomical details create a dynamic and animated hyper realistic image that looks contemporary in a graphic novel sense.
